New Beginnings for the Menzuo S.W. Series

In August of 2014, I was honored to sign a book deal with Cosby Media Productions. I spoke with Leon Cosby and his cousin, Braxton Cosby about the possibility of publishing my Menzuo S.W. series. After our conversation, we came to find out that this was the perfect fit for the all of us. The contract was drawn up and the ball began to roll.

Over the next couple of months, I prepared myself by going over all of the books that I had written within the series and wanted to make sure that I was ready for whatever Leon and Braxton was going to present to me. As an advocate for education, I quickly came to find out that they were on the same mission. These gentlemen were on a mission to change the mindset of our youth and also adult to re-discover the love of reading and also strengthen literacy throughout the country. This was the same path that I was traveling down, but with little help or direction.

Knowing the Cosby brand (from their uncle, Bill Cosby) and also the importance on education that the name “Cosby” holds, this was a true no-brainer for me and also a gift from God to be blessed with the opportunity to work with such dedicated men. With this opportunity, I had to do something that most people are unwilling to do. I had to be willing to fall back and allow someone else to set me on a path towards success. I had to work on rewriting my first book, “Menzuo in the Calling of the Sun Prince,” take direction from their editor and re-invent the story to make it new. Now, I am proud to say that because I stayed humble and kept my mind open to take in new knowledge, the release of my first book will be AMAZING.

With the edits complete and a new twist to the story that will help to make the series more enjoyable, there is a slight name change to the book. It will now be known as, “Menzuo: The Calling of the Sun Prince,” and I am so very proud to have been on this journey to bring you all something that I love so much. My character, Menzuo has been reborn and is on a mission to change the world.

Honestly, this process for book #1 of the series was humbling and amazing. I have learned so much about my own writing style, I have strengthened my knowledge of telling a story and I have also learned how to engage my readers with stronger dialogue within the story. So as I move on to the editing of book #2, “Menzuo S.W. Legend of the Blue Diamond,” I am more prepared to produce another amazing story for you all to dig in to. The excitement that I have with the release of the first book and the events that I will be setting up and attending motivates me to live my dream of getting a book into every school in this country, boys and girls club and community center so that all children can have a new superhero to grow up with.
