As I continue my journey as an author, motivational speaker and now publisher of Indie Authors under my publishing company, 4King Edward Enterprises, Publishing, I tend to sit back and think about what is really behind my drive towards reaching my personal successes in life. I believe that my drive stems from my love of education and also for helping to change people’s lives for the better.
As I have grown as an author, I have made several mistakes that have helped me to make my path moving forward so much easier to travel. I have always been the type of person to think outside of the box. When I first started writing, I thought the only way to become a published author was through the traditional ways of doing it. Go out and find an agent, reach out to the known publishing companies, get that publishers contract and upfront advance that looks so great then move forward towards reaching the New York Times Best Seller’s list then I realized that there was another way. After searching online and talking to several of my friends who have also published books, I found out that I could self-publish my own work, all that this took was for me to educate myself a little then move forward with the process. Once I published my next book, I found out how easy it was for me and then the light bulb went off in my head. “I can do this on my own and help others publish their work as well. I can open my own Print On Demand Publishing Company,” and that is exactly where I am today. I took the past two years to research several P.O.D. companies and also how they go about building up their own business as a publisher. I started off by publishing my own books, developed my website and after I made myself known through hosting several events and attending book fairs, I decided that it was time for me to move on to help others publish their books through my company. It is a great feeling to help others reach their goals as authors as I continue to do the same. For me, it doesn’t seem right to hoard knowledge on how to break into the field of becoming an author. I believe that it is best to have as many people feel the same type of fulfillment as I have when I became a published author. I don’t do it for the accolades or the fame, because both of those things come and go. I do what I do because I love the arts and also for my own personal fulfillment of helping others reach their goals. If you have a story to tell or a poem to share and you want to do it by reaching the masses with it becoming a book, then why not help someone if you have the knowledge to do so? That is what drives me towards success, helping others. I hope that this helps to explain just a little of my journey. Good luck with your journey to success.
